Carleton U: Statement on Recent Racial Violence in U.S. and Canada

As a university of national and international reach and connection, we are deeply mindful of the tragic and horrendous police-involved events that have recently taken place in the U.S. and Canada. We understand that these events are not isolated but are situated within intergenerational memories and histories of violence against Black, Brown and Indigenous peoples on the continent. Our thoughts are with members of the African diaspora within our community and beyond.

As a supportive and caring community of communities, Carleton is here for you. For those requiring assistance from Health and Counselling services, they may be reached at 613-520-6674 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. For additional support resources, by province, please visit

For those who wish to access resources and other supports to engage the issues, you may reach Equity and Inclusive Communities through our Senior Advisor on Human Rights and Equity, Ikram Jama, at [email protected]
