The voting age will not be lowered to 16, however support behind a national inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) was given at the three-day Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) convention last week in Calgary.
Mayor Chris Spearman and city councillors, with the exception of Joe Mauro and Liz Iwaskiw, attended. The convention was an opportunity to take part in information sessions, to network, to learn about how other municipalities govern, and to speak with provincial ministers.
Two resolutions previously approved by Lethbridge city council were presented at AUMA.
The first involved a letter of support behind a national inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.
