Condolences on the Passing of Chief Joseph Wabigwan

On behalf of Garden River First Nation, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and community of Thessalon First Nation on the passing of Chief Joseph Wabigwan.

Chief Wabigwan was a deeply respected leader who always carried the best interests of his people in his heart. His dedication to Thessalon First Nation was evident in his unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and meaningful community engagement.

He was not only a leader, but a man who brought joy to others – his humour, warmth, and ability to make people laugh left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Garden River First Nation join Thessalon First Nation in mourning this tremendous loss, and we honour Chief Wabigwan’s legacy, leadership, and the positive impact he had on so many.
