Cora McGuire Cyrette – Executive Director, Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA)
Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA) Executive Director Cora McGuire Cyrette joins Nationtalk to discuss their organizations actions in response to the Coronavirus 19 and how it’s affecting Indigenous Women and families across the Province of Ontario.
ONWA is currently advocating for community needs to support policy change such as essential need for access to free WIFI across Ontario as most services have moved to online support.
It’s important to recognize that many Indigenous people don’t have service providers and can’t afford to because they live in poverty.
As well there is the need to provide Indigenous non-profit organizations the financial support they need to continue to work the frontlines and keep their doors open while Indigenous people battle this crisis together. Join us as these topics and more are discussed.
ONWA continues to provide valuable tools, resources, and best practices across the province of Ontario. Now more than ever their work is a much needed bridge and communications tool for Indigenous women their families and communities.
