Crack Cocaine part of $25,000 Drug Seizure in North Spirit Lake

(North Spirit Lake, ON) On August 21, 2015, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) in North Spirit Lake First Nation along with the NAPS Drug Enforcement Unit began an investigation under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act in relation to an assault investigation.
Investigation led police to seize Percocet pills with a street value of approximately twelve thousand two-hundred eighty ($12,280.00) dollars, along with Crack Cocaine with a street value of approximately eleven thousand two-hundred ($11,200.00) dollars, and Marihuana with a street value of approximately one thousand six-hundred seventy-eight ($1,678.00) dollars. The total northern street value of the seized drugs is twenty-five thousand one-hundred fifty-eight ($25,158.00) dollars.
Forty (40) year-old Audrey KAKEKAGUMICK of Winnipeg, Manitoba (formerly of North Spirit Lake First Nation) has been charged with Assault, Possession of a Controlled Substance, two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Fail to Comply with a Recognizance. KAKEKAGUMICK was remanded into custody and will next appear in court on September 2, 2015, in Kenora, Ontario.
North Spirit Lake First Nation is located approximately 550 km northwest of Thunder Bay.
