“They often start out by becoming ‘boyfriends,’ luring girls with promises of love and protection – a dream of a better life,” the Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba RCMP told SaskToday in a joint interview. “They fulfill a need that is ‘missing.’ Then come the gifts, such as clothes, an iPhone, even a pet.”
