Dr. Brenda Green Appointed to 3-Year Term with CIHR College of Reviewers
First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv) is proud to announce that Dr. Brenda Green, a distinguished faculty member, has joined the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) College of Reviewers. This appointment marks an impressive step in her career and highlights FNUniv’s commitment to contributing to national health research and knowledge-sharing across Indigenous and academic communities.
By becoming a part of CIHR’s College of Reviewers, Green joins a community of over 4,000 esteemed members dedicated to supporting CIHR’s mission and ensuring the highest standards of peer review in Canadian health research. Her role will involve critical evaluation of funding applications for initiatives like the CIHR Project Grant Program, contributing to impactful advancements in public health, innovation, and wellness.
“I am honored to contribute to a rigorous peer review process that supports health research excellence in Canada,” Green stated. “This role offers a unique opportunity to bring Indigenous perspectives into national conversations about healthcare, ensuring equitable and inclusive approaches to research funding.”
As part of her onboarding, Green will complete CIHR’s mandatory training modules, which focus on review quality, addressing bias, and integrating sex and gender considerations in research evaluations. This training ensures all reviewers are equipped with essential knowledge to provide objective, informed feedback throughout the review process.
Green’s name and affiliation with FNUniv will be listed publicly on the CIHR website, recognizing her commitment to advancing Indigenous representation within Canada’s research landscape.
