by pmnationtalk on April 20, 20223221 Views

In 2016, Dr. Whiteside was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada. Dr. Whiteside now holds the position of Director of Partnerships for Diabetes Action Canada, the CIHR-Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) Network in Diabetes and Related Complications.

She currently serves as Chair of the Board of the Banting Research Foundation.

Since 1925 the Banting Research Foundation has served as a unique, talent spotting beacon.

Identifying young rising stars in health science across Canada, mentoring them the way insulin-discoverer and Nobel laureate Sir Frederick Banting was encouraged.

To date, they have supported 1353 young health and biomedical researchers across Canada (totaling $8.6 million) through their annual Discovery Award Program. Their Discovery Award Program provides research grants valued at $25,000 to the highest ranked applicants in an annual peer-reviewed competition.

A University of Toronto graduate, Dr. Whiteside served as Dean of Medicine and Vice Provost Relations with Health Care Institutions at the University of Toronto from 2006 -14 and was recognized with WXN Canada’s Most Powerful Women Top 100 Award in 2012.

Join us as we discuss the importance of diversity as the Banting Foundation shifts gears for increased inclusion in the 21st Century.
