Federal ministers react to audits on government’s COVID-19 response – May 26, 2021

Federal ministers Patty Hajdu (health), Anita Anand (public services and procurement) and Marc Miller (Indigenous services) hold a virtual news conference following the release of Auditor General Karen Hogan’s two reports on the federal government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her office assessed the efforts of Public Health Agency of Canada and Health Canada in securing personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical devices for provincial and territorial governments before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The other audit focused on pandemic support for Indigenous communities and whether Indigenous Services Canada provided sufficient PPE, nurses, and paramedics to protect Indigenous peoples against COVID-19.
