Feel the Earth, Love the Earth: Haida House at Tllaal

“Haida House is an opportunity to share my culture and show people how we live on Haida Gwaii and how precious it is, and the responsibility that we have to keep it for the future. To host visitors and to feel the earth and to love the earth, we will be a part of that from hereon,” shares Guujaaw, Hereditary Chief of K’uuna.
At Haida House, looking after the land is the priority. Indigenous tourism is a delicate balance between showcasing culture, hosting guests, and caring for the land. Originally conceived as a way to generate revenue, employ Haida citizens, and share Haida culture, for the Haida Nation, the Haida House is more than just a lodge—it is an opportunity to share how precious Haida Gwaii is and to encourage everyone in Haida Territories to share the responsibility of care for the Air, Ocean, Land and People.
The commitment of Haida Nation to sustainability and cultural preservation and the dedication to public education through the Haida Gwaii Pledge–an invitation to visitors to share responsibility for the care of Haida Territories as a visitor–guides Haida House at Tllaal as a leader in responsible tourism.
