First Nations Market Housing Fund and First Nations Financial Management Board Sign MOU to Support First Nations Communities

MONTREAL QC, JULY 15, 2024 — The First Nations Market Housing Fund (the Fund) and the First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB) have joined forces to enhance collaboration and cooperation in supporting First Nations communities. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two organizations took place on the eve of the 45th Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) in Montreal on July 8, 2024.

The signing ceremony was attended by Michael Rice, Chair of the Fund, and Harold Calla, Executive Chair of the FMB. This agreement establishes a framework for the two organizations to work together, fostering the sharing of information and encouraging joint efforts to improve the wellbeing of First Nations communities.

Harold Calla, Executive Chair of the FMB, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “Improving the wellbeing of our communities is essential for encouraging government to join us in changing the status quo.”

Michael Rice, Chair of the Fund, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, “We are committed to working together to bring positive change to First Nations communities. Combining our efforts means that we can create a stronger foundation for sustainable housing and financial management practices.”

The signing of the MOU marks a milestone in the ongoing efforts to support First Nations communities in their pursuit of self-determination and improved living conditions.
