On November 5, 2024, to a standing-room-only packed house, with people from across the province and beyond joining by Zoom, Dr. Kathleen Absolon presented at the 6th annual Indigenous Graduate Student Research Evening at the University of Regina, Education Building.

Dr. Kathleen Absolon, an Anishinaabe kwe, respected knowledge carrier, and an Associate Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University, gave a riveting and inspiring talk titled “Restoring Indigenous re-Search Methodologies.” Joining Kathleen for the evening were two Indigenous graduate students, Heather Carter and FNUniv Indigenous Languages faculty, Darian Agecoutay, who presented their thought-provoking research to an appreciative crowd. Dr. Kathleen O’Reilly, FNUniv Graduate Program Coordinator and Associate Professor in Indigenous Education, moderated the event.

The event, sponsored by the Office of the Vice President, Research, Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, and First Nations University of Canada, was well received. The organizing committee consisting of Drs. Angelina Weenie, Anna-Leah King, Xia Ji, Twyla Salm and Kathleen O’Reilly are planning next year’s event.
