Thousands of people from all over came out to celebrate Indigenous culture on March 11 with the return of Georgian’s in-person Pow Wow. The event was held at the Barrie Campus and featured a fun day of crafts, dance, song and food honouring cultural traditions, renewing old friendships, and welcoming spring.

A heartfelt gratitude to everyone who dedicated their time and energy to planning this celebration – especially our committed and talented students. And a big thank you to the Elders, veterans, drummers, dancers and vendors for bringing to life this exhilarating event. The theme of Honouring the Cycle of Life was reflected in everyone who joined – from infants to Elders.

Georgian is on a journey of reconciliaction, committed to fostering a more thoughtful and inclusive teaching and learning environment – one where every voice is welcome and matters. The Pow Wow has played a significant role in inviting community to be one of those voices and one of the keys steps to bringing community onto our campus.”
