SYDNEY — First Nations students from across Atlantic Canada got a chance to ask Gov. Gen. David Johnston questions on everything from education to fracking at Cape Breton University on Monday.
Johnston appeared via Skype from Rideau Hall on the first day of a conference kicking off this year’s In.Business program in Atlantic Canada. He gave a brief address to the 60 aboriginal students participating in the conference and then took their questions.
Representing 18 First Nation and Inuit communities across the region, and ranging in age from 15-18, the students posed a wide range of questions.
Nichelle Googoo, from Eskasoni, asked about the role of post-secondary education in the economic success of First Nations communities.
