The NDP MPP for the Kiiwetinoong Riding is seeking more information about remediation work that’s supposed to be carried out on the English-Wabigoon River system.
Sol Mamakwa says he was told last week Ministry officials were meeting to discuss the issue, but local residents are still in the dark.
“Chief Rudy Turtle from Grassy Narrows indicated to me there has been no outreach, what-so-ever, since the election of this government.”
Environment minister Rod Phillips says 85 million dollars has been committed to the clean-up of the mercury and says they will be reaching out to community leaders.
