Over the past several years, hundreds of unmarked graves have been discovered near the sites of Canada’s former residential schools, in which the government forcibly placed some 150,000 indigenous children. In what’s been described as cultural genocide, both boys and girls were subjected to psychological and physical abuse. But the differences between the male and female experience still have effects today. Indigenous women are significantly overrepresented among homicide victims and missing persons in Canada. Erin Ogunkeye spoke to lawyer, writer and member of the Cree community Michelle Good for more. We also take a look at one of the first legal cases of its kind against the strict abortion law passed in Texas since Roe v. Wade was overturned.
