Valérie Courtois is the director of the Indigenous Leadership Institute (ILI), an NGO that supports Indigenous communities across Canada to honour their responsibilities to the land through the creation of Indigenous Guardians programs and Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas. Dahti Tsetso Is ILI’s deputy director. Linda Solomon Wood, editor-in-chief of Canada’s National Observer, spoke with Courtois and Tsetso about how these programs and the movement towards Indigenous-led conservation can build a better Canada.
