Alex Janvier, is a world-renowned Indigenous Canadian Artist who is known for his use of vibrant colours and distinctive, flowy line work, sadly passed away today at the age of 89.
The Assembly of First Nations have held a moment of silence at the annual general assembly to honour Cold Lake First Nation artist Alex Javier, member of the Indian Group of Seven, who has passed into the Spirit World.
Alex Janvier was from Treaty 6 Territory, as he participated in many National and International exhibitions for several decades garnering many accolades from various organizations as a pioneer of Indigenous Modernist Art in Canada.
