Indigenous Rights Revolution Growing Momentum

Sunday, December 9th 2012, Traditional Territory of Treaty No.6…Chiefs, youth, elders, women and community members will all gather Monday (December 10,2012) for IDLE NO MORE rallies occurring across the country. From Vancouver to Toronto, this grassroots Indigenous Rights Revolution is growing momentum.  Chiefs showed their support of Okimaw (Chief) Wallace Fox’s request by joining him at a rally on Parliament Hill last week during the Special Chief’s Assembly in Ottawa. These media images, sound bites, tweets, posts, blogs and stories began a movement in uniting our Indigenous Peoples with one voice.

“We want Treaty Implementation on our Rights. We stand together as Nations to follow through on our notice to the Government of Canada in stating, Treaties cannot be domesticated under Canadian legislation. Our Treaty Rights were entered into by two Sovereigns, the Crown and the Nations on “Turtle Island” not Canada. We defend and support our Indigenous Rights Revolution and the Idle No More movement by standing in solidarity on Monday. I encourage all Peoples to come together by attending these peaceful rallies in a city closest to your home fire,” stated Okimaw Wallace Fox.
