Indigenous Screen Office welcomes newly appointed Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture

December 2nd, 2025, Toronto (Tkaronto), ON — The Indigenous Screen Office (ISO) welcomes the appointment of Mark Miller as the new Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister responsible for Official Languages.

“We look forward to building a strong and productive relationship with Minister Miller to continue strengthening the presence and impact of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis storytellers across the screen sector,” said Kerry Swanson, CEO of the Indigenous Screen Office. “The ISO remains committed to advancing narrative sovereignty, expanding opportunities for Indigenous creators, and ensuring Indigenous perspectives are meaningfully reflected within Canada’s cultural landscape.”

With permanent federal funding and ongoing partnerships with leading national institutions, the ISO continues to champion Indigenous creative sovereignty, expand access to resources for emerging and established creators, and strengthen pathways for Indigenous representation in the audio-visual sector.

The ISO remains dedicated to ensuring Indigenous stories are not only supported, but celebrated as essential to Canada’s cultural fabric.
