The people of the Bear River First Nations and people from the surrounding communities came together, up on the hill, at the cultural centre on Reservation Road, May 10, to honour the missing and murdered indigenous women of Canada.
“It was wonderful, absolutely overwhelming,” said Wanda Finigan, a member of BRFN and project coordinator with the Women’s Place Resource Centre in Annapolis Royal. “I think we need to come together more as women and reach out more to the communities around us. I think this is the way to fight against people who would do us harm.”
