Inuit Connection Program 2024 Request for Applications

The Department of Language, Culture and Tourism is accepting applications from Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement within Nunatsiavut and Upper Lake Melville to attend the Inuit Connection Program at the Torngat Mountains Base Camp and Research Station for the 2024 Season.

This is a partnership project between the Nunatsiavut Government, Parks Canada and Makivvik Corporation. The goal is to enable Labrador and Nunavik Inuit an opportunity to reconnect with their homeland, and provide opportunities to understand how to make the park a living, vibrant Inuit place that is meaningful in the present and the future.

The following is specific to this project:

  • Funding for 9 Beneficiaries (family or individual) to explore the park and connect at the Torngat Mountains Base Camp and Research Station for a one-week period from August 3-10, 2024;
  • Participants must have a strong connection and interest to their homeland and offer insights that may enhance future programming and discussions.

Applicants must be willing to travel by charter to Nain and then to the Torngat Mountains Base Camp. Travel by speed boat and helicopter may also be expected.

Beneficiaries will be selected on the merit of their applications. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
