Investigators Focus on Disappearance of 18 Year Old

Ladysmith RCMP and the Island District General Investigation Section continue their investigation into the disappearance of Delores (Deedee) Brown.

As part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of 18 year old Delores Brown, additional resources from the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) have been brought in to support local officers in conducting their investigation.

Delores Brown was last seen on the Penelakut Island on July 27, 2015. Police, community members, and search and rescue teams have been searching for Brown since she was reported missing on July 29, 2015. Brown has never gone missing before; raising the concern of family, friends and police.

Our team of investigators continue their work at this hour, ensuring every investigative lead is followed up, in an effort to bring answers to Delores’ family and her community, states Cpl. Darren Lagan of the Island District RCMP. We urge anyone with information on her whereabouts to call us immediately.

Delores Brown is described as:

  • First Nations woman
  • Approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall
  • Weighing approximately 120 pounds

Delores was last seen walking on Penelakut Island wearing blue jeans, a hoody, and carrying a backpack.
