Keepers of the Circle announced as presenting sponsor for the Local Food and Farm Co-ops’ 13th’ Annual Assembly: Pollinators of Change
TEMISKAMING, ON, March 29, 2022 – Keepers of the Circle, an Ontario urban Indigenous hub, is proud to announce it is this year’s presenting sponsor for the Local Food and Farm Co-ops’ 13th’ Annual Assembly: Pollinators of Change. The Assembly will focus on imagining how the world can work differently, regeneratively, and cooperatively when it comes to food systems, food justice, and food economies.
“Last year we sponsored 65 Assembly passes which went to Northern Indigenous women,” says Arlene Hache, Executive Director of Keepers of the Circle. “This year we’re happy to be able to expand our relationship with Local Food and Farm Co-ops so more people can access this event.”
Keepers of the Circle’s sponsorship allows Local Food and Farm Co-ops to offer subsidized Assembly passes for under-represented groups in the local food, farming and co-op sectors. This includes BIPOC, low-income, 2SLGBTQ+, youth, students, and start-up organizations facing barriers to growth.
“Cooperative businesses, sustainable farming practices, and food sovereignty are all ways towards a more sustainable post-pandemic future,” says Susanna Redekop, Communications Coordinator at Local Food and Farm Co-ops. “This year we’ve created a new online format for the Assembly attendees that lets them choose to engage with content at their own convenience.”
The Assembly takes place April 1-29, 2022, and includes both live Zoom sessions, as well as recorded and downloadable content and tools. Access to an online community where attendees and experts can connect, chat, and share information will be available to registrants. This year’s sessions will focus on leadership in food systems, food justice, cooperatives, farming, and BIPOC food sovereignty. To register visit: https://www.localfoodandfarm.coop/assembly.
