Walpole Island’s Cheryl Mitchell and Kettle Point’s Lucas Rogers won titles at the Indigenous Ontario golf championships.
Walpole Island’s Cheryl Mitchell and Kettle Point’s Lucas Rogers won titles at the Indigenous Ontario golf championships Wednesday at MontHill Golf and Country Club in Caledonia.
Mitchell is the women’s champion for a third straight year after finishing the three-day tournament at 10 over.
Rogers won the junior boys’ crown and also tied for second overall in the men’s standings at 5 over.
Mitchell, Rogers and Walpole Island’s Lorne Smith qualified for the 16-member Ontario team going to the Indigenous Challenge Cup, a Ryder Cup-style tournament against British Columbia on Sept. 9-10 at Bear Mountain Golf and Tennis Resort in Victoria, B.C.
