WINNIPEG, MB–( May 25, 2017) – The nation is already buzzing about this year’s Aboriginal Day Live (ADL) going coast-to-coast-to-coast for Canada 150. Today, the lineup with over 70 of some of the biggest names in music and television, including award winning and on-the-rise artists was announced.

Highlights include: Charlie Major, Classified, Daniel Lanois, Derek Miller, Digawolf, Don Amero, Florent Vollant, George Leach, Iskwé, LightningCloud, Nelly Furtado, Neon Dreams, Radio Radio, Taboo, and Zachary Richard. For a complete lineup visit aboriginaldaylive.ca.

ADL will be the greatest yet, with stages in Halifax, Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Yellowknife, Edmonton, and Vancouver.

The 11^th edition will bring Canadians together to acknowledge Aboriginal Peoples’ accomplishments, through cultural activities and live music while contributing to the nationwide movement of reconciliation. To bring the Nation together in one great gathering, Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) with financial support from the Government of Canada through the Canada 150 Fund, is making this the largest National Aboriginal Day celebration in history. ADL continues to evolve and will feature elements of the arts and culture community from eight regions. A fusion of musical genres, languages, styles, and interdisciplinary arts from the First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples come together on stage to paint an exciting living experience of contemporary Aboriginal expression. Throat-singing and beat box mix-up in Inuktitut and French; artists from across the North creating the first ever Inuit throat singing choir; and hosts outfitted with the hottest jewelry and clothing from Aboriginal designers are but a few examples. This year will showcase the unparalleled talent that is woven into the tapestry of all Nations that make up the mosaic of this country.

Aboriginal Day Live multi-platform broadcast will mark broadcast history. Watch LIVE on APTN, online at aborignaldaylive.ca or listen via the Aboriginal radio waves. The 7-hour Aboriginal Day Live concert will broadcast on June 21 from 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. ET on APTN.

National Aboriginal Day is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding achievements and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples. It was first celebrated on June 21, 1996, after being recognized through a proclamation by then Governor General Roméo LeBlanc. National Aboriginal Day is part of the Celebrate Canada program, though most provinces do not recognize it as a statutory holiday.
