Media Advisory – Chiefs of Ontario and Independent First Nations Host Annual Chiefs Assembly

(Toronto, Ontario, June 13, 2022) — On June 14-16, 2022, the Chiefs of Ontario and the Independent First Nations (IFN) will host the Annual Chiefs Assembly (ACA) in Toronto, Ontario, on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, Anishnabeg, Chippewa, Haudenosaunee and Wendat peoples. First Nations leadership, citizens, and technicians from across Ontario are in attendance, under the theme Every Child Matters: A New Legacy.

The three-day conference will include important updates on a variety of issues and priorities for First Nations in Ontario, including child welfare, education, environment, First Nations laws and jurisdiction, and more. Delegates will also be joined by National Chief RoseAnne Archibald, Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, and Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services.
