Media Advisory—Notice of Report Release

Edmonton, Alberta — Auditor General Doug Wylie is releasing the Report of the Auditor General—March 2023 following its tabling in the Legislative Assembly on the afternoon of Thursday, March 23, 2023.

The report contains the following:

• Critical Worker Benefit Program Performance Audit
  (Alberta Jobs, Economy and Northern Development)

This audit examines the effectiveness of Alberta Labour and Immigration’s processes to design, monitor and report on the Critical Worker Benefit program.

• Liability Management of (Non-Oil Sands) Oil and Gas Infrastructure Performance Audit
  (Alberta Energy Regulator [AER])

This audit assesses whether AER has an effective liability management system to mitigate the risks associated with the closure of oil and gas infrastructure. The audit also assesses whether AER’s analysis of the oil and gas liability management system appropriately identified risks and gaps and whether AER prepared an implementation plan to effectively mitigate those risks and gaps in the design of its system changes.

• Report on Post-secondary Institutions 2022
  (Alberta Advanced Education)

This report summarizes the accuracy and timeliness of the preparation of the financial statements and the status of outstanding recommendations.

• Assessment of Implementation Reports
  • Reporting on the Oil Sands Monitoring Program (Alberta Environment and Protected Areas)
  • Fort McMurray Residential Facility-Based Care Centre (Willow Square) Project Management (Alberta Infrastructure)
  • Systems to Manage Risks in Business Arrangements (Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission)

The reports are expected to be tabled by the Chair of the Standing Committee on Legislative Offices, Mark Smith, MLA for Drayton Valley-Devon, around 3 p.m. MDT, at which time the reports will be available online at oag.ab.ca.
