Schedule and Draft Agenda
3500 Cessna Drive, Richmond, BC
Viscount Room
Objective of the Training Session;
The Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) is pleased to continue the third step in training support for the Métis Chartered Community Associations throughout British Columbia. MNBC provided training in September –
November 2007 where four specific recommendations were made to the MNBC Board of Directors as a result of the feedback received during these sessions. The MNBC Board of Directors provided a final report during the Métis Nation Governing Assembly in December 16th, 2007 that outlined the four recommendations: – Métis Chartered Communities require more assistance with Financial Administration and how reporting
financial statements can align with MNBC and all funding partner requirements;
– Métis Chartered Communities and various regional representatives require more support on the role of the
Regional Governance Council;
– Métis Chartered Communities and individuals require more support to assist the Métis citizenship process;
and
– Métis Chartered Communities need support from the MNBC to keep the Métis community members engaged.
Therefore in accordance with the first recommendation MNBC will focus the third training session specifically on the area of Financial Administration. In addition MNBC will also include additional agenda items to support Métis
Chartered Community capacity development.
The training session will be held in Richmond, BC and will include Métis community executive members (as
represented by the Métis communities President and Treasurer), the MNBC Board of Directors, and MNBC Senior Management. The training session will once again provide an opportunity to continue relationship building with
various Métis community leaders and MNBC staff. MNBC will provide all necessary travel and accommodations to ensure full participation.
