MFNERC: New Program Launched

by pmnationtalk on July 19, 20171264 Views

This program is a new initiative in partnership with the University of Manitoba and is designed specifically for the special education and language and literacy needs of special needs students in First Nations schools. It is a unique program which embeds First Nations culture and teachings within graduate studies course work.

An opening ceremony took place on July 10, 2017 at Yellowquill College. It was an exciting time to meet the students, hear from Elders, the U of M and MFNERC representatives, and celebrate the launch of this unique learning opportunity.

Twenty-five candidates entered into the graduate program. Upon successful completion, all candidates will be fully qualified language and literacy coaches, with an option to continue course work to become reading clinicians.

See photos of the opening ceremony.
