Minister of Human Services recognizes National Child Day

Minister of Human Services Irfan Sabir issued the following statement recognizing National Child Day.

“Our government is proud to support National Child Day to highlight the importance of children’s rights. Children deserve to have a voice, have a good quality of life, be protected from harm and have opportunities to reach their full potential.

“I encourage Albertans to participate in the many organized across the province, and to help educate our children about their rights – building on this year’s theme, ‘It’s Our Right to Learn.’

“The goal of the day is to celebrate children as active participants in their own lives and our communities, and as active citizens who can and should meaningfully contribute to decision-making.

“Government plays an important role in working collaboratively with partners to make sure we can create the best opportunities for our children.

“We will work to ensure that all children, families, and communities in Alberta have the necessary resources to be successful and that children are encouraged to learn about their rights, their culture, and to learn through play.”
