MMF Presenting Annual Christmas Cheer Board Concert
December 9, 2013
In keeping with the generous spirit of the season, the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) will be holding it’s annual Christmas Concert with all proceeds going to the Christmas Cheer Board of Winnipeg.
Join the MMF, in partnership with the Christmas Cheer Board of Winnipeg as they invite one and all to the ‘Metis Christmas Benefit Concert’ being held at the Manitoba Metis Federation Home Office (in Elsie Bear’s Kitchen on Lower Level) located at 150 Henry Avenue on Saturday, December, 14th from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. Tickets are only $10.00 and children 12 years old and under can attend for free.
“I am very pleased to announce our Christmas Concert as part of our longstanding commitment to the valuable services provided every year by the Christmas Cheer Board” said President David Chartrand.
“Our Metis government is committed to ensuring that every child from every community receives the Christmas that they dream of and fully deserve” concluded Chartrand.
The Cheer Board was started in 1919 by a number of Winnipeg churches. The original intent was to provide Christmas Hampers and toys for the widows and orphans of the soldiers lost during World War One. The Cheer Board provides assistance to families receiving Employment Income Assistance as well many of the working poor.
Each year, the MMF brings together family and friends with well-know Metis musicians to raise funds for the Christmas Cheer Board culminating with the presentation of a cheque to Cheer Board executive director, Kai Madsen.
