At 25, Mumilaaq Qaqqaq was elected NDP MP for the Territory of Nunavut. In this interview, Mumilaaq discusses her Inuit culture, her experiences in politics and the legacy of Colonialism (including racism; inadequate housing and clean water; food insecurity; substance abuse; suicides; violence against women and children; residential schools; and forced assimilation). Mumilaaq talks about the ongoing Inuit struggle for human rights and self-determination, and highlights the resilience, love and beauty of the peoples of the North.
