National Victims and Survivors of Crime Week
May 12, 2025
The National Victims and Survivors of Crime Week is from May 11 to May 17, 2025. This year’s theme is the Power of Collaboration.
In the spirit of Pijitsirniq (serving and providing for family and community), Nunavut Victim Services will host targeted workshops and events in May and June in various communities. This year, events will focus on raising awareness of the trauma that is endured by victims of sexual assault.
Victims and survivors of crime can access counselling by referral from Victim Services. Support is also available for court processes, such as preparing victim impact statements, and resources are available for families affected by Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls.
Nunavut Victim Services is a confidential, client-centered support service for victims and survivors of crime, available throughout the territory. If you or someone you know has been a victim of crime, please call 1-866-456-5216 or email victimservices@gov.nu.ca.
For more information about National Victims and Survivors of Crime Week, please contact Dephin Mutema at dmutema@gov.nu.ca or 867-975-6373.
