On Parliament Hill, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh speaks with reporters ahead of the second reading in the House of Commons on his bill to lower food prices. The private member’s bill (C-352) would empower Canada’s Competition Bureau to tamp down on anti-competitive practices from grocery companies, such as price-fixing.

Responding to questions from reporters, Singh comments on his recent meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on negotiations for a national pharmacare program. The supply-and-confidence deal between the Liberals and NDP stipulates that the government must pass a universal pharmacare bill by March 1, 2024. The NDP leader also reacts to comments made by Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre about opposing the use of puberty blockers for transgender youth under 18.
