Nishnawbe-Aski Police Officer Promotions

On February 20th, 2009, the Chief of Police John Domm of the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service proudly announced the promotion of four (4) officers to the rank of Sergeant, and one (1) officer to Staff Sergeant after an extensive interview process.Cst. Robert E. Baxter received his promotion to the rank of Sergeant. Sgt. Baxter has been a police officer for the past (14) fourteen years, and he is currently stationed at Wunnumin Lake First Nation. Sgt. Baxter is originally from Eabametoong First Nation. He attended elementary school within the community, and obtained his grade 12 diploma by attending St. Patrick High School in Thunder Bay. He attended the Law and Security Program at Confederation College.

Sgt. Baxter worked with Bell Canada and Hydro during his early years and eventually pursued his goal to become a police officer. Sgt. Baxter has had the opportunity to police in several First Nation communities, gaining valuable knowledge and experience to assist him in his new position. Sgt. Baxter will be supervising officers on three N.A.N. communities in the Northeast Region of NAPS. He will be relocating to Cochrane and Sgt. Baxter’s goal is to lead the officers in his detachments to the best of his ability.

Cst. Jackie George received her promotion to the rank of Sergeant. Sgt. Jackie George joined the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service in 1999. She has been a police officer for the past (10) ten years.

She is currently stationed at General Headquarters in Thunder Bay, working as the Community Initiatives Coordinator. Sgt. George is originally from Kettle and Stony Point First Nation. Sgt. George has worked in several N.A.N communities, gaining valuable experience to pursue her career goals within the organization and to continue to assist in providing quality service to the First Nations.

From 2004 – 2006 she was seconded to the OPP to the Violent Crime Linkage Analysis System (VICLAS) Section.

Sgt. George has been involved in a number of projects within the organization outside of her own duties. She is a member of the Ontario Women in Law Enforcement Organization.

Sgt. George’s new position will be Recruitment and Media Relations and she will be working out the NAPS Headquarters in Thunder Bay.

Cst. Chris Eisenbach received his promotion to the rank of Sergeant. Sgt. Eisenbach joined the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service in 2004. Sgt. Eisenbach was stationed in the Northwest Region at the start of his career.

He worked in five (5) First Nation communities within the Nishnawbe-Aski Nation.

Sgt. Eisenbach received his grade 12 diploma at Hillcrest High School in Thunder Bay.

Sgt. Eisenbach currently works as a training officer for the police service. Sgt. Eisenbach is trained as a Use of Force Instructor, Firearms Instructor, and Police Physical Readiness Evaluator.

Sgt. Eisenbach also promotes health and physical fitness within the police service through the Ontario Police Fitness Award Program and he developed the NAPS hockey team.

Sgt. Eisenbach will maintain his current position as the Training Coordinator and he will continue to work out of the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Administrative Headquarters in Thunder Bay.

Cst. Eisenbach’s goal is to enhance the overall quality of training and knowledge provided to the members of the police service.

Sgt. Jamie Mageau received his promotion to the rank of Staff/Sergeant. He received his education in Timmins, Ontario. S/Sgt. Mageau started his policing career with the RCMP in 1993, and transferred to Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service in 2001.

S/Sgt. J Mageau worked in the Northeast Region, working out of the Cochrane regional office.

S/Sgt. Mageau got promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2005 and was deployed to the Mishkeegogamang First Nation Detachment, later transferred to the Constance Lake First Nation Detachment.

In May 2007 S/Sgt Mageau was in charge of supervising approximately 8 detachments within the Northeast Region.

He has been recently designated as the Operations Staff Sergeant at the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Northeast Regional Office situated in Cochrane, Ontario.

Cst. Nelson Racicot received his promotion to the rank of Sergeant on February 2, 2009. He supervises officers in 10 NAPS detachments.

Sergeant Nelson Racicot is member of Wahgoshing First Nation. He is originally from Peawanuck First Nation. He obtained his education at Sault Ste. Marie College of Applied Arts.

Sgt. Racicot joined the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service in 2000 and was stationed at Wahgoshing Detachment. In August, 2008 Sgt. Racicot transferred to Northeast Regional Headquarters situated in Cochrane, Ontario.

The Nishnawbe –Aski Police Service extends its congratulations to the officers for achieving their new rank and positions.
