Younger generation losing ability to live or get out on the land, says Barry Anderson, AngajukKak for the town of Makkovik
The summers are getting longer and winters are getting much shorter, says Barry Anderson, the AngajukKak and head of Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) for the town of Makkovik.
These changes have significant cultural impacts on the Indigenous communities of Labrador.
The weather is becoming increasingly unpredictable, resulting in adaptations within these communities that significantly affect their way of life.
Anderson said there are more frequent unanticipated storms, making it more difficult to use traditional knowledge that has previously been able to predict weather patterns.
