HALIFAX _ The Nova Scotia government says it will review the province’s fuel supply management system after a gas shortage earlier this week.
Municipal Affairs Minister Zach Churchill says he will do an independent review under the Emergency Management Act.
The probe will look at how the system failed and identify ways to prevent it from happening again.
Churchill says he wants to ensure police, fire and ambulance services are not affected by fuel shortages, and that people are warned about impending disruptions.
He also plans to name a third-party public safety specialist to lead the review within the next week.
Several gas stations closed earlier this week because of delivery problems with the fuel supply.
Retailers say it was linked to the conversion of an Imperial Oil refinery in Halifax to a tank farm at the end of 2013.
