Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services Unveils 2023-2024 Annual Report: A Year of Growth, Advocacy, and Empowerment

Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services (OAHS) is proud to announce the release of our 2023-2024 Annual Report, marking another significant year in our ongoing mission to provide safe, affordable, and culture-based housing for Indigenous communities across Ontario.

This year’s Annual Report reflects the strides we’ve made in fulfilling our commitment to Indigenous communities, highlighting key achievements, strategic initiatives, and the impactful stories of those we serve.

A Year of Strategic Growth and Community Empowerment

The 2023-2024 Annual Report showcases the completion of new housing developments, enhancements in our service delivery, and the strengthening of our advocacy efforts. Notably, this year saw the unveiling of our new Strategic Plan, which outlines four key priorities that will guide our work in the years to come:

1. Growth and Care of Housing Assets: This priority has seen OAHS complete major housing developments in Marathon and Cochrane, providing safe and supportive homes for Indigenous families.
2. Indigenous-Based Housing Policy and Advocacy: Our intensified efforts in advocacy have ensured that Indigenous perspectives are increasingly recognized in housing policies at all levels of government.
3. Economic Self-Sufficiency: OAHS has focused on empowering communities through programs designed to enhance economic independence, including job training and financial literacy initiatives.
4. Wise Practices & Operational Excellence: By integrating Indigenous cultural wisdom into our operations, OAHS has continued to improve service delivery and operational efficiency, ensuring that we meet the needs of our communities with respect and excellence.

As we look to the future, OAHS remains committed to its mission of building not just homes, but thriving, self-sustaining communities. Our Strategic Plan serves as a roadmap, guiding our efforts to expand our housing assets, advocate for policy changes, empower individuals economically, and uphold the highest standards of operational excellence.
