The Ontario government is dedicating $3 million over the next three years to Helmets to Hardhats Canada, a nonprofit organization that supports military members transitioning into civilian careers in the construction sector. This initiative aims to help 650 active and former Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members gain the skills and certifications required for rewarding careers in Ontario’s construction industry, bridging a crucial gap in skilled trades workforce development.
Announcing the program, Premier Doug Ford emphasized the importance of supporting veterans who have served Canada, highlighting the new investment as a means of facilitating veterans’ transition to stable, well-paid careers in skilled trades. This investment comes alongside Ontario’s recent legislative effort, the Honouring Veterans Act, 2024, which aims to expand support and recognition for veterans across the province.
