Ontario Regional Chief RoseAnne Archibald Statement on EAO Order for Coastal GasLink to Consult Further
(Toronto, ON, Feb. 22, 2020) “We are hopeful that with the recent order for Coastal GasLink to consult further with the Wet’suwet’en that all parties will work together to find a common resolution.
It’s essential that the Crown through both Federal and the BC governments fulfill their fiduciary obligation to First Nations. Both governments must continue to engage at this critical time and not push that responsibility onto First Nation leaders across Canada who have no place in Wet’suwet’en business.
In Ontario, we look forward to the RCMP’s plan for withdrawal. It seems that there is a 30 day window of opportunity for everyone to get to the table and make real progress, so peace can be restored in Canada.”
