Toronto remained under a special weather statement on Thursday for the third day in a row, but the level of air pollution dropped slightly in the evening, according to Environment Canada.
The federal weather agency said at about 9:30 p.m. that mid to high levels of air pollution would continue for the night. Earlier on Thursday, the level of air pollution was deemed to be high.

Environment Canada had previously predicted Thursday’s air would be the worst experienced in the city this week, brought on by wildfires in Quebec an other parts of Ontario. But as of 9:30 p.m., the weather agency had rated Toronto’s air a four out of the 10-point Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) scale. At 11:30 a.m., it was pegged at seven.
For Friday, the federal weather agency predicts the number will rise to five.
