Premier Announces Senior Public Service Appointment

The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced an appointment to the senior executive of the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Service.

Heather Jacobs, QC, has been appointed as Deputy Minister (Acting) in the Department of Justice and Public Safety.

“Ms. Jacobs is an example of the talented and dedicated professionals in the provincial public service, who work on behalf of residents each and every day. ‎I am pleased to appoint her as Deputy Minister (Acting) in the Department of Justice and Public Safety. Biography

Heather M. Jacobs, QC
Heather M. Jacobs, QC, has served as an Assistant Deputy Minister in the Department of Justice and Public Safety since June 2006, most recently as the Assistant Deputy Minister of Strategic and Corporate Services. Ms. Jacobs managed the Government Services Unit within the Civil Division of the Department of Justice from January 2002 to June 2006, and served as a solicitor in the Civil Division from 1988 to 2001. Ms. Jacobs received her Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Memorial University in 1984 and Bachelor of Laws degree from York University (Osgoode Hall) in 1987. Ms. Jacobs has been a practicing member of the Bar of Newfoundland and Labrador since 1988.
