Premier kicks off western tour
26 October 2015
BANFF, Alta. (GNB) – Premier Brian Gallant kicked off a tour of western Canada by participating in the leadership panel of the Banff Forum.
The annual non-partisan forum brings together a diverse group of leaders from across the country who are engaged in issues of national importance. This year’s theme was The Young and the Restless: Tackling the Coming Generational Divide in Canada.
“As Canadians, we share many of the same challenges and opportunities,” said Gallant. “I was pleased to speak with young leaders from across the country to talk about the importance of leadership if we are to make New Brunswick and Canada prosperous and progressive.”
Past speakers participating in the Banff Forum have included Mark Carney, governor of the Bank of England and former governor of the Bank of Canada; Kevin Lynch, vice-chair at BMO and former clerk of the Privy Council; Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall; and Jean Charest, former premier of Quebec.
Gallant participated in the panel with Perry Bellegarde, national chief of the Assembly of First Nations.
Over the next several days, Gallant will meet with western Canadian premiers and businesses. During his visit, he will also speak to an audience of business people in British Columbia and Alberta.
“Developing our economy is a priority we all share as provinces and I look forward to discussing with my colleagues from the western part of the country on how we can work together and create more jobs and prosperity for Canadians,” said Gallant.
