PSA: NTI’s Gas Voucher Program Update
February 27th, 2023
(Iqaluit, Nunavut) The NTI Gas Voucher Program that was launched on February 23, 2023 provides a one-time book of gas vouchers totaling $750.00 to harvesting households in Nunavut communities. The Gas Voucher Program was developed by NTI to help alleviate some increased costs experienced by harvesters.
This program supports the purchase of gasoline only. Home heating fuel, naphtha/camping fuel, and diesel are not eligible through these vouchers.
The vouchers have no cash value, and no cash or credit will be provided if the full amount of a single $50.00 voucher is not used at the time of purchase.
Each booklet includes 15 separate $50 vouchers. If a person spends $47.00 of gasoline with one voucher, the customer will not receive cash or credit for the remaining $3.00.
Local Co-ops and other gasoline providers through this program are not profiting off of unused voucher amounts, as they will invoice NTI only for the actual cost of gas used for this program.
Harassment, threats, or intimidation will not be tolerated in the operation of this program. Any gasoline retailer has the right to deny service to those targeting, intimidating, harassing, or threatening staff.
This is an NTI designed and delivered program, meant to support hunters and harvesters in Nunavut communities. Community gas stations managed by local Co-ops and other retailers are valuable resources in the administration of this program. Without retailers support and inclusion in this program, it could not operate.
Any issues or complaints about this program can be directed to the Inuit Programs & Services Department at NTI in Rankin Inlet: 1-888-236-5400.
