Senior Healthcare Executive joins Williams Consulting / PathDMS
Williams Consulting / PathDMS is excited to announce that Ruby C. Miller, B.Sc., R.N., and member of Six Nations of the Grand River will be joining our First Nation companies as a full-time Manager of Policy and Evaluation effective April 1, 2014. As a Senior Healthcare Executive, Ruby brings more than 32 years of healthcare, program development, strategy development, change management and implementation experience to the First Nation companies.
For the past seven years, Ruby C. Miller has been the Director of Health Services for Six Nations of the Grand River. She will be retiring from that position effective March 31, 2014. During her tenure, she worked with change management processes to develop, revise and implement policies and procedures, short- and long-range goals, objectives, health work plans and strategic health plan. Ruby provided leadership to 285 health employees (including managers, supervisors and staff) and was responsible for Health Department fiscal accountability, contribution agreements, and reporting obligations (administering a $17 million budget). In addition, she facilitated Accreditation Canada Certification. Prior to this position, Ms Miller provided leadership and management of a stand-alone Aboriginal Midwifery Practice. She developed and delivered community programming including Traditional Medicine workshops and Traditional Parenting classes. Ruby Miller received her grounding in applied Indigenous knowledge and training during her 15 years employed at the Ontario Federation of Indian Friendship Centres (OFIFC) where she designed and delivered training programs for Criminal Courtworkers, Family Courtworkers, Long Term Care program workers and Northwest Region Board of Directors.
The recruitment of Senior Healthcare Executive Ruby Miller culminates a number of changes implemented by First Nation owned companies Williams Consulting / PathDMS to be more responsive to growing needs and requests for services from First Nations and the Aboriginal community. Working with First Nations: In addition to being a member of the Six Nations of the Grand River, Ruby has extensive experience working with a variety of First Nations cultures and communities across Canada. She has a comprehensive understanding of First Nations health issues and traditional health practices.
Effectiveness and Accountability: 15 years experience in Executive management and has excellent problem solving skills, is a critical thinker and proponent of empowerment and accountability.
Strategic Planning & Organizational Development: extensive experience in strategic planning and policy development. Ruby supports change management as fundamental to organizational growth, development and goal achievement.
Communications: Ruby Miller brings more than 30 years of finely honed communication skills. She is known for her ability to develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with First Nation governance, Board of Directors, senior levels of Federal and Provincial governments, educational institutions, community workers and community members.
Negotiations and Capital Projects – extensive experience in effective negotiations for funding for health programs and services, maintaining and enhancing of base funding and overseeing capital projects.
