Shamattawa RCMP respond to fatal vehicle collision involving a child

On September 20, 2019, at approximately 4:00 pm, officers from the Shamattawa RCMP responded to the nursing station on a report of a child having been struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers were advised that a two-year-old boy had been struck by a vehicle near his residence on Jackfish Road. Officers spoke with the driver who advised she was driving around the rear of the residence when the boy suddenly appeared and she could not stop in time.

The child was transported to the nursing station where he was pronounced deceased.

Alcohol and speed are not considered factors in this collision.

Shamattawa RCMP continue to investigate.
