Sheltersafe.ca – A lifeline to safety for abused women and their children

The Canadian Network of Women’s Shelters and Transition Houses will be launching this new online resource on June 4th at the Canadian Domestic Violence Conference in Toronto. Sheltersafe.ca will provide women and their children with a one stop connection to help in their community.

Sheltersafe.ca provides a single point of information for women seeking safety by quickly identifying a shelter in a specific geographic area. A clickable map provides 24-hour emergency telephone numbers, while protecting the confidential locations of shelters. It also underlines that women do not need to be a shelter resident to access shelter services.

We want to ensure that women get the services they need as quickly as possible. Women who experience abuse are most at-risk of extreme violence when they are preparing to leave an abusive relationship.
