SSHRC and NCTR announce results of the Partnership Engage Grants—Residential Schools Joint Initiative

The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) are proud to announce the results of the Partnership Engage Grants (PEG) funding opportunity PEG—Residential Schools Joint Initiative (PEG RSJI). This funding opportunity was put in place to support Indigenous communities in their decision-making processes, research and actions regarding residential school sites in Canada.
A total of $373,460 is being invested in eight research projects that are truly indicative of Indigenous-led, community-based research related to residential schools across Canada. The partnerships and research that will emerge from this funding will provide critical knowledge and support to Indigenous communities continuing to experience the impacts of the residential school system. This initiative is a direct response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, and another important step forward on the path to truth and reconciliation for Canada.
