Students weave Indigenous culture through lacrosse sticks and storytelling

A special event recently hosted at Georgian College Muskoka Campus, featuring Jim Calder, author of ‘Tales of Lacrosse Troubadour: A Player’s Odyssey,’ and former professional lacrosse player, along with traditional stick maker Joe Valliere from Chippewa and Rama First Nations. Students from local public schools gathered at the Muskoka Campus to learn how to make traditional lacrosse sticks and explore the spiritual significance of the sport, discovering how lacrosse bridges communities and serves as a source of healing and connection.
